Chuck graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree in 1987.

Chuck began his career as a project engineer with the Thiokol Corporation in Huntsville, AL.  After spending three years as a project engineer in government contracting, Chuck decided to return to school, with an eye on working with his brother, Steve, in the stack and duct business.  So, in 1990, Chuck returned to Auburn University and obtained a Masters of Science in Civil Engineering in 1992.  His major area of design was in structural engineering.

Chuck began his “second” career in Hattiesburg, MS as a consulting engineer.  This experience was very valuable in learning the consulting business as well as how to design “out-of-the-box” solutions.  In 1995, Steve and Chuck’s vision of working together finally came through.  Chuck joined Steve at Warren Environment where Chuck was a project engineer. Chuck worked through all phases of the production side of steel stacks and ducts including detailed design, fabrication, sub-contracting,transportation and commercial aspects.

In 1998, Chuck decided to begin his own business.  Chuck moved back to Hattiesburg, MS and started Reid Engineering and Industrial Design.  This business specialized in designing stacks and other structures for various commercial and industrial applications.

In 2001, Chuck and Steve once again teamed up.  This time, they started Industrial Environmental Systems, headquartered in Atlanta, with a project management and engineering office in Hattiesburg. In 2004, the Hattiesburg office relocated to Opelika, AL.

IES has flourished for more than a decade by providing superior engineering solutions to complex problems.   IES has done successful project in the cement industry, power plants, ethanol plants and various other industrial projects.

Chuck is a registered professional engineer in Alabama, Mississippi, South Carolina, New York, Connecticut and Georgia.  He is a member of the ASME-STS steel stack committee.
